We are searching for members interested in becoming a part of the ASEA Elections Committee to oversee our elections process.
The elections committee, governed by the ASEA Policies 2.03.020, 22.00.000 and the ASEA Constitution Article 7 and AFSCME Constitution Appendix D, is responsible for making all necessary arrangements for the elections, with assistance from staff, to include the approval and mailing of notices of nominations and elections and the mailing and counting of ballots. All elections for the State Executive Board and AFSCME convention delegates are conducted under the supervision of an Election Committee in addition to elections as requested by the State Executive Board.
- Election Committee member term of office: Three (3) years from date of appointment.
- Seats available: Northern, Southeast, Rural (on the road system) and Bush (off the road system). If you are interested, please send a statement of interest letter.
- Travel to Anchorage may be required. Travel is arranged and covered by ASEA. Most elections are scheduled for March of each year.
- Leave. Work time that is missed to perform election committee duties is covered by the ASEA Business leave bank.
- To be eligible for the election committee you MUST be a member in good standing of ASEA and cannot be a candidate for election, or hold any other elected or appointed office in the Union, with the exception of stewards.
