WIC Seeks Ruth Bader Ginsburg Award Nominations

The ASEA Women’s Issues Committee is pleased to announce that the nomination period is now open for the committee’s biennial Ruth Bader Ginsburg award! The award recognizes and celebrates union members who are making a difference in their workplaces and communities through action and advocacy.

How it works.

  1. You identify a fellow ASEA member who has worked to address challenges and/or inequalities, big or small, facing ASEA members and their families (these can be in the workplace or in their communities).
  2. You reach out to ASEA HQ at aseahq@afscmelocal52.org to verify that they are a full dues-paying member of their union.
  3. You alert the individual that you plan to nominate them for this award in celebration of their efforts.
  4. You draft a Statement of Qualification on their behalf (or in tandem with them) detailing the steps they have taken and the results of their actions/advocacy (500-1000 words).
  5. You draft a Statement of Support indicating why you believe they should be considered for this award and include any additional information you think is relevant (200-400 words).
  6. You submit this information via the WIC RBG Nomination Form online.

The deadline for nominations is February 20, 2026. The award will be presented at the ASEA Biennial Convention in March 2026. The winner will be gifted a pearl necklace, bracelet, or cufflinks (depending on their preference) as a tribute to the late Supreme Court Justice, Ruth Bader Ginsburg, and in honor of their contributions to the improvement of ASEA members lives.

If you have any questions about this award or process, please reach out to ASEA Women’s Issues Committee Staff Liaison, Emily Chapel, at emilyc@afscmelocal52.org.

Thank you,

ASEA Women’s Issues Committee
