Bargaining Update No.9 | December 21, 2021

  • Our ASEA Contract Negotiating Committee (CNC) met with the State of Alaska’s bargaining team on December 20, the sixth negotiating session. Day Two of the session, December 21, has been cancelled.
  • After 3 months of meeting with the State’s negotiating team, even after the CNC proposed a monetary package on Article 19 (Health) and Article 21 (Wages) the State, again, was not prepared to discuss monetary terms.
  • As announced during the last CNC worksite meeting, the State wants to do the following:
    • Give the State the ability to contract out jobs regardless of cost
    • Make seniority subject to whether your supervisor thinks you’re a good employee
    • Eliminate automatic merit step increases
    • Permit the State, at the Governor’s discretion, to furlough GGU members up to 10 days per contract year

ASEA and SOA adopted the following agreement related to negotiating sessions conducted by video or audio conferencing: Negotiating sessions will be administered in a way to prevent unauthorized participation.
