Dear ASEA Rural Region Member,

The AFSCME Judicial Panel has determined that another election must be held to determine who will be the Rural Region Representative on the ASEA State Executive Board.

The ASEA Election Committee made a decision based on a protest that was filed by one of the candidates of the March election. The ASEA Election Committee determined that a ballot language error in one of the five Rural ballot categories was not enough reason to rerun the election based on the number of members voting. Based on this protest decision, one of the candidates appealed the decision to the AFSCME Judicial Panel. The AFSCME hearing officer ruled that the Rural Region Representative seat must be rerun.

Notice of Election and the Ballots for the Rural Region Representative election will be mailed to your home address today, July 9th. The Election Day is August 14, 2018. All ballots must be received in the post office box in the envelope enclosed with your ballot no later than 8:30 am on August 14th.

If you don't receive a ballot or need a replacement ballot please request one by contacting an ASEA office.

In Solidarity,

Jake Metcalfe
Executive Director
